Laura Secord was very historical significant figure in Canadian history. Laura was born in Massachusetts in 1775. Her dad supported the patriots in the American Revolution, so in result the whole family moved to Niagara Region of Upper Canada. While the family was there, Laura met James Secord then got married and had kids. Laura and James were a part of the War of 1812. During that time, James got injured on the battle field and needed a long recovery, but the American troops ordered for Laura to take care of him as the war continued. One night James overheard one of the American troops conversation and heard that they were planning a surprise attack on the British army at Beaver Dam's. The Secord's needed to get this very important information to the person that was in command of the regiment at Beaver Dams, with the name of Lieutenant James Fitzgibbon. But because of James’ horrific injury, they had no way to pass the message on, so Laura had to walk all the way the way there. Once the British found out the information, they planned a surprise attack on the Americans, so they too were caught off guard. During that time, they captured 462 American enemies. All because of Laura Secord's “Spying” The Americans Might’ve had a surprise attack on the British, everything would’ve went wrong. Her hard work and actions show what a great impact she made in Canadian History.
